Okay, next update!

Things have been going at a fast and furious pace! We left off with no windows and open walls. In the two months since the last update we now have an all new electrical system and insulation! No more empty wooden box that's freezing in the mornings and baking in the afternoon!

With the insulation in, we moved on to having the windows and french door put in. This first picture is a shot of the window in the master bedroom. This is a window we had put in.

Along with windows, we had the sheetrock put in. No more bare wooden walls!

With the sheetrock up, the next step was taping the seams. They did a great job.

With the sheetrock all taped, next came a few coats of mud and texture. You can't see it really well in the picture, but trust me that's what's there. This is a shot of the soon-to-be-kitchen!

With the walls all ready to go, the next step... why priming and painting of course! Priming and painting every square inch of the house...

Somewhere along the line the kitchen cabinets came and were set in place. We also had to pick the colors for the house. You can see that on the far wall in this next picture.

Oh, and did we mention we upgraded the siding of the house? A lot of it was rotting away and with the new windows put in, we decided to liven it up. Can you tell the difference? :)

And then, after a few weeks of painting every free moment we had, here is a shot of myself priming our master bedroom wall just minutes from finishing!

That's it for now! All our appliances came today and we're going to have the quartz counter delivered Friday. We'll go another round with the painting (we're doing it ourselves to save enough money to redo our second bathroom), this time with actual colors! Whoo hoo!

Demo - Check, Rough Framing - Check, Electrical / Network - In Progress

What can I say? I'm bad at uploading pictures. We finished up the demo and spent a good few days cleaning up.

Here's a laundry list of things we've done in the past two months, NOT chronological order:

- The dump truck has now been filled - three times.

- Rough framing is done.

- Electrical wires are just about done being pulled.

- Kitchen layout is marked on the ground.

- Light fixture locations have all been marked.

- Old windows have been removed (most of them).

- New windows have been ordered (coming soon).

- A special shout out to Dave, helping us bring the house into the 21st century with CAT6 and Coax cables pulled.

- The garage walls, driveway, walkway and sidewalk have all been pressure washed.

- Garage had exposed metal ties that needed to be cut with a grinder.

- Cindy went to town painting on a sealant in the garage that will hopefully help the bare concrete walls fare a little better.

- Brick fireplace has been resurfaced.

- New kitchen / dining room flooring has been picked.

- A special shout out to Jack for helping us install ties that tie our walls to the roof.

- Dug new drainage trench and laid new pipe in backyard patio area; had to lug hundreds of pounds of concrete and drainage gravel up to the backyard. Shout out to Jack and Vince for saving my back, literally (Cindy adds - And bank account).

Demo Day ... what day is it? [Remodel day 23]

I've stopped counting the days since we've been hitting the house in a few hour chunks. Before heading down to L.A. for Christmas, we had more Chevron friends come out. Below is Amar up on a box putting the finishing touches on our master bedroom.

In the New Year, we were back at it hitting the kitchen / dining room with a vengeance. We took down the ceiling and will begin working on tearing up the floor before the week's out!

Shout out to Amar. It looks like he has a patch over his eye, but that's just a reflection... I promise!
